Remove carefully from packaging. Ensure silk holder and gels are carefully positioned and not obscuring the chimney. Position appliance on a safe, solid surface where children or pets won't upset it, ideally at eye level or above.

• Apply power to the unit ensuring fan is operational - you will feel a slight draught.
• If the silk is slow to billow, it may be damp - it will dry out during a minute in normal use.
• Keep unit upright at all times. Unit will become slightly warm in use. This is normal.

In time the silk flame may become dirty, through attraction of dust, smoke and airborne particles. To replace silk, remove old silk by peeling off its double-sided tape, cleaning off old tape thoroughly. Affix new tape to silk holder, then carefully attach silk, ensuring the new silk is central and is not stretched.

To replace lamp, turn off power, pull unit clear of housing, feeding mains cable through grommet, and laying on a work surface. Used lamp can be prised carefully from holder using fingers and new fitted by exerting firm but careful pressure, putting lamp into holder. The aluminium bracket may be bent carefully in case of difficulty re-assembling. Return bracket to original position after lamp fitting.

Gel replacement : Only use Lee / Rosco colour gels. Gels may be changed if necessary by carefully sliding them out before reassembly.
